My floors were finished a long long time ago and I am wondering if there is any way to re-finish them in the more natural way possible(ie absolutely not chemicals if at all possible). I would need to re-stain them and apply some kind of a finish.

So, last winter, heading into spring, my duct, running from my dryer in the basement to the basement window vent, broke.  I am the quintessential procrastinator and didn't buy a new duct right away... actually, for months lol.  I continued to use the dryer, rationalizing that the warm moist air was not such a bad thing in the dry, cold months.  ( Read more... )

I need tips on how to insulate my porch. My three bunnies are stuffed away in my bedroom all day while I'm at school or work [every day usually from 8am til anywhere from 4-11pm] and even though they have no cage, I want them to be able to get plently of exercise. I am looking into stuffing/refilling the chambers of my current down comforter? I do not want to purchase a new one because this one is in fine shape, just has lost its fluff. It is over 8 years old. I recently moved into a house that's 100+ years old with original doors and woodwork.  Any suggestions on how to clean and brighten the finish on the wood?  Also, one of the doors looks like an angry teenage girl attacked it with a knife.  There are about 50+ gouge marks in the door, some of them about an inch wide, and they are pretty deep. I looked through the memories but I didn't find much.. I rent an apartment in a building that is over 100 years old. It has the original hardwood floors which are very scratched and warped and generally just look awful. Since I rent this place, clearly it is not in my budget to refinish the floors.
